Question:

Problem with 2006 Honda Civic EX cold air intake.?

I put an aftermarket cold air intake on my 2006 civic ex. it was lagging, bogging, and stalling. I had to custom-make a spot for the mass air flow senson but it‘s in the exact smae spot as it was on the stock intake. I think it may be getting too much air now. is there anyway i can minimize the amount of air coming in and still keep the aftermarket intake?

Answer:

we answer many questions a week from people who put on fake cold air intakes, then have problems. Those intakes are designed to work at wide open throttle or wot so for max power it is supposed to be driven With foot to the floor to make more horsepower and save gas. Unfortunately, they do not live up to their claim Clearly, your computer is compensating for something it does not understand. If it leans out your engine in the process it will burn up the engine too. I would put what ever air filter on, that it runs right with. And hope you have not damaged an expensive engine. Do you realize that the more you do to make that Little engine work harder, the faster it is going to blow up? .
If you had to customize for the MAF that's your problem not has to be PERFECT. Get an intake that has a spot already for the MAF. It's not that it's gettin too much air, it's That it's not reading the air right. Get the proper intake and it'll work great. Done this a few times for customers.
