Question about Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

Hi, we recently had some engineered hardwood installed in our new home. We currently have a dining table and chairs that have the roll legs on the chairs. This concerns me, do we have to be worried about making marks on our beautiful new floors? It is a floating floor system, we have heating pads under them. Thanks!!

Answer:

First, it depends on the sealant and how many coats were put on. This would protect the floor, but over time would need to be re-sealed. Can you let me know if this was sealed, with what sealant if you know and how many coats.
Definitely protect the floor. The casters will mar the floor.I like the caster cups with a little patch of carpet on the bottom. This is especially important for an engineered floor, as the wear layer is very thin and often cannot be refinished like a traditional, solid profile floor.
You most definitely must be concerned with that type of leg bottom.Casters will mar up wood very easily. If it were a regular laminate, it would be a bit tougher but still needs protection. For wood or even engineered wood you should invest in a thin area rug. Then you still must have the proper, thin pad to protect the area rug from marring the wood and let it breathe so it won t stain it. Any questions tou can e mail me through my avatar. GL
