Question:

REMOVING COPPER PIPING?

HOW DO YOU DESOLDER COPPER PIPES? I NEED TO REMOVE A SMALL SECTION FOR WATER SOFTNER. THANK YOU.

Answer:

Iron is an element on the periodic table. It is and atom. Thus, it is not made from other metals, though hypothetically speaking you could make it if you were to physically remove protons from the nucleus, causing atomic decay, but its very difficult to do. Fe, Iron, is in its most basic form and atoms go. When it is mined, it is melted, at very high temperatures, and other impurities are removed.
confusing task. browse in the search engines. this could help!
Well, you could heat it until the solder softened and then twist and pull it apart using oven mitts, or you could just cut the section out with a hack saw and be done with it.
I assume you're going to route that pipe through the water softener. I would just use a tubing cutter to cut out the section you want to remove. Then you can build your line to the water softer and use 90 degree elbows to patch into the pipe you cut. Desoldering requires time, patience, and a watchful eye to keep from igniting your structure.
