Question:

Scaffolding on a budget?

I want to put up new siding on my two story house. But the prices to rent a scaffolding are so darn expensive. I've heard of people making quot;skyfoldings.quot; It consists of a three ladder design. Two ladders are standing vertically and one ladder horizontally. They use custom made brackets to support the horizontal ladder. Is a quot;skyfoldingquot; a good idea?

Answer:

You could build one out of lumber. 2x4s.
Not at all for a novice like you. Scaffolding systems are pretty cheap when rented for a month at a time. They're a lot safer plus with the extra space provided by two walk boards per stage you can get more work done in less time with less effort. Tip: when setting up scaffolding, have it slightly off plumb towards the building. That way it'll fall towards the structure if the soil gives way or wind blows too hard.
I suggest 2x4s and duck tape to construct scaffolding
Look into pump jacks.
