Question:

Service Brake System message is displayed. Whats wrong?

I have a 2006 Z71 with a 3 body lift that I had put on about 2 months ago. Everything went well but now the service brake system message is displayed with the ABS and Emergency light lit up. I took it to the chevy dealership and they said it could be a short. Any other suggestions of what it might be and how I could fix it

Answer:

When I took the MSF course they taught us to use both brakes. The front has more braking power, but if you squeeze it quickly or too much you will lock up ur tirewhich is not good. I'd say use both at 50/50. I tend to use the front more too.
I use both brakes always. Approximately 65% of your stopping power comes from the front brake. Why give up 35% of your stopping power?
I use both brakes all the time. The rear brake has lots of uses.
don't mess with the ABS unit. its a computer that's run by your vehicles computer and wheel sensors. if you mess with the ABS computer system, you run the risk of burning that computer out, and a new ABS computer is somewhere around 1500 bucks to replace.
check the brake module under the truck on the frame rail drivers side almost right under the drivers seat. make sure you plugged it back in. check the obvious,,, fuses. wheel speed sensors
