Sorry, your plan sounds idiotic and shows you have no interest in spiritual things. But come on anyways. You never know, there could be a spark of sincerity you are covering up. I would recommend that you just walk up to somebody and say hi and introduce yourself. Most likely somebody will introduce themself to you if you don't.
Having the iron well tinned helps handle the solder and helps with heat transfer to the part being soldered. I recommend you wear safety glasses. It is certainly possible for droplets of molten solder to get thrown around if you drop the soldering iron or hit some trapped flux or a little moisture.
