Ours (the one in the building's hallway) goes off randomly. When we first move in the first time I heard it I figured something was wrong. After finding out they go off once or twice a week, I don't worry as much. But there's times where it'll go off,the stop, a few minutes later off again, and agin. I was wondering if the ones complexes put in does it if one in one of the apartment goes off or it has some type of timer. After it going off numerous times last week the fire dept came and nothing was wrong. Next day the building got a warning of tampering.
Usually on some locks when that happens it is because of the plastic parts wearing in the LATCH, that is the part that holds the door shut. There are 2 metal pieces that bang together instead of passing each other because of the plastic parts wearing. If you haven't ever worked on a door before, this is not where to learn actually. You can try it but you might want someone experienced there with you as a mentor or you could end up with more problems than what you have.
Yes. Call A tech. Call heating co. not gas co. The gas co. is known for turning off the gas in till fixed..or charging outrageous prices per hour to fix .. HVAC co.can fix it faster and easier if the gas is on..If gas was spilling into your house ,i would say open windows leave and call gas co.THAT IS NOT YOUR CASE.. Your problem is the furnace shuts off gas You can try to clean the thermocouple in the Pilot flame .. or tighten the small bolt at the end of small copper tube running out of gas valve to the pilot flame sensor(thermocouple).
