A quick lube joint was supposed to check all fluids and top off on a friend‘s car. They somehow put power steering fluid in the master cylinder. Now the brakes are spongy and a repair shop wants over 3000$ to replace everything. Would bleeding the system work along with replacing the hoses?
the cost will be enormous if you do that

How long did it take for things to start going wrong if this happens? I had the same happen but my neighbor who did my brakes (he's a small motor mechanic) just topped off my brake fluid with a small amount of power steering fluid. I drove the car like 300 miles before I found out only because I saw the bottle he used. the inside of the brake fluid cap is swollen but so far no issues. I had the fluid pulled out with a suction gun and replaced. the only thing I can think is that it was such a small amount it was diluted and never got into the line. Wouldnt something have gone wrong by now after over 300 miles of driving since it happened?

First thing I want to know is why some dumb$$ quickie lube drone was topping off the brake master reservoir. if he were even remotely qualified to service brake systems he'd know you never top off the reservoir, the min and max indicator marks are only there for qualified mechanics to determine if you need brake pads, now that the dumb$$ has screwed that up along with your entire brake system, I'd say make the company that hired Dumb$$ pay for all the repairs, if you don't then your also a Dumb$$
