i heard i should get one rather than a Dump valve, well?, should i?
If you are referring to a big truck or a dump truck, A pressure release valve or pop-off valve let's air release out of the air system to keep the system from building up too much air pressure. A dump valve releases all of the air from the air ride suspension or pony axle.
Depends on the fuel injection system you have and whether or not you want it to make noise or not then a dump valve it is.Now,we need to know what kind of fuel injection system you have.If the car has a mass airflow sensor then a dump valve will not work. You see,all the air that enters the motor must be metered by the MAF sensor. If you have a dump valve, when you let of the gas,the pressurized air is vented to atmosphere. The engine control module is expecting X amount of air to enter the engine. It just got released to the outside.see the problem.
It is often used as a safety devise in many industrial fields, first introduced on the early steam engines of the 19th century to prevent the boilers from blowing up due to excessive steam pressure. They still did often blow up as the early valves were quite primitive and often stuck closed,
