Question:

Transmission Problem?

I have a 2008 Chevy Impala with 45,000 miles, and lately (last 2/3 days) it seems to rev higher before shifting. Like when I hit the gas, it will go to higher RPMS before it shifts. Is this a sign of a dying transmission?

Answer:

First off check the transmission fluid level and be sure that you check it according to the dealership or owners manual instructions. It sounds like the transmission fluid is due to be changed especially with that much mileage on it bec it's right around the mileage were it's due for it's first transmission fluid and filter change. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way even the engine running temperatures greatly affects the over all life span of the transmission fluid , also if you compare what mileage the average person drives a year around 15,000 miles you're doing 50% more driving per year.I highly recommend that you have the transmission fluid and filter changed asap and be sure that the proper factory recommended fluid and parts are used.
You are a lunatic! You have a gas leak and you want to repair it with tape! The pipe should NOT be copper to begin with, should be black pipeI strongly suggest you turn off the gas and call a plumber before you kill everyone in the house, or worse, the gas explodes!
Jim, I would suggest having your vehicle checked at your local dealership. They are the only ones that will be able to diagnose the vehicle. Under normal circumstance, this fix may be covered under your Powertrain Warranty, which is 5 years/100,000 miles. Hope this helps. Caron, GM Customer Service
Check your transmission fluid. You may not have enough. What color is the fluid? It should be bright red. If it is brown or dark you have a problem and need to get it looked at. At the mileage you have you should not be having any transmission problems yet. Do you tow things with the car? That could cause transmission problems. .
tape should be wrapped clockwise so it doesnt un-wrap when you screw it together.tighten it until it si good and snug.then mix up a little dish soap and water solution, and apply it to the conections, with a spray bottle if possible,if there are leaks it will make bubbles.some times you just smell residual gas while working with the pipes. and i agree,it should be black iron pipe.get it checked by a professional a.s.a.p.
