The engine light on my car turn on now and again. It stays on for about 2 days then goes off for about a week, then back on again. Sometimes is sooner or later. Does anyone know of any common faults or what this might be? If the light is turning off then it cant be serious can it?
the check engine light goes on when any of the systems the computer monitors returns a value outside the parameters it expects to see. Even when the light recycles and resets, the error code is kept in memory. Go to the dealer, or your mechanic, and have the system scanned for error codes. One that is done you will know what codes are present, and how serious it is. Someone is bound to tell you to go to some auto parts store to have it scanned. Please don't. They only do the scan to sell you parts, and the scan is only as good as the kid on the counter that day.
