we had a fire last night. the stove caught on fire, cooking with oil (was only on for about a 1 min) i went to grab the fire extinguisher and it didn't work. come to find out it was empty. the fire dept said they could tell there were electrical problems, something to do with the breakers. the leasing office said its not their responsibility to check them. but the fire dept and neighbors said it was. ours was empty, one didn't have one and one had 2. ours had not been checked since may of 2010, the neighbors since march of 2010. if our fire extinguisher had worked, there would not have been as much damage. what are the laws and what can we do? we have 3 months left on our lease.
When you take all things into account: Hockey is tougher and rougher. Not all hockey players wear visors or face shields - players get hit in the face with pucks and sticks They get stitched up and go back out and play. Hockey is played on skates - even though they have good balance it is easier to knock a player down when he is on skates. As we all saw this year skates can cause very bad injuries Richard Zednik can contest to this. Hockey players have a stick - whether or not it is used a weapon it can cause injuries. Players get hit in the face, back of the legs, or across the wrist. Both have hard hitting. Hockey has (legal) fighting. Not trying to take anything away from football but Hockey is the rougher sport.
I have played both competitively (though certainly not pro). I really think it depends on the position in football. Running backs and linebackers take huge amounts of abuse. Tight ends and wide receivers a bit less. The hardest single hit I ever took was playing ice hockey. But the worst I ever got banged up was in football. The difference is that in hockey I would get hit hard occasionallyin football constantly. Even a successful play in football and you are still usually eating dirt. I think the players themselves are about the same. The toughness that really matters in sports is mental anyway, imo.
No. Hockey is rough, but Football is brutal. Football players are bigger and stronger on average, playing in a sport where players play once a week because it takes about that long to recover after a game. Football players have a higher season ending injury rate, shorter careers, and carry a higher risk of life long disability than hockey players for a reason.
If someone can sue McDonald's because their coffee is hot, I'm sure your friend has a case.
Football is much rougher and tougher. Not even close. Money dominates everything so if the NFL could play more games they would to make more money. SO the NFL playes 16 games a season. Hockey plays 82. YOU figure it out
