You are probably going to need a new door latch assembly as the door lock actuator is built into it. Sometimes the link can be straightened out to pull down/push up more, but nearly always it will need the latch/actuator assembly. In your case you might be able to adjust the link, as it will work with the key. Most of the time, you have trouble lock/unlocking the door even with the key. Hope this helps, a car nut.
