i have seen 3 dentists so far. two of them used amalgam only. only one used resin, but the resin didn't even last more than a month, i think.so i wonder what most people get these days? from what i have read, resin don't last long comparing to amalgam.

I've had two root canals and I can tell you that you absolutely need novocaine or some sort of anesthetic. The drill is not super loud, but it's really high pitched and since it's in your mouth the sound really fills your head. You need to have some sort of pain reliever while you are having the procedure done, so if your dentist really doesn't offer any sort of anesthetic, you need to find one who does and have the procedure done by them instead.
