If it is printing lighter than normal you probably need new toner. On the toner cartridge, I'm not sure how to explain it they usually have like a little tab that you can move back and forth the length of the cartridge to clean it. You can also try the cleaning procedure for your printer, 1 Power ON the Printer and allow the “READY” LED to light and stay lit. 2 Press and hold down on the Front Panel Key until all four LED’s on the Control Panel remain lit (NOT BLINKING) and the Printer begins to cycle up (STARTS TO FEED PAPER), then release pressure on key. The Printer will produce one page with Toner/Ink contamination and background. Once is usually sufficient to clean the Printer Cartridge, but heavy contamination may require that this procedure be repeated.
I had that happen one time too! It was tough to get the fire out. It wasn't threatening, but it just kept moving along the coil, continuing to burn. I got lucky though and it did go out on it's own finally. As far as cleaning up fire extinguishing agent, you can just use a mild soap and water solution. Dishwashing liquid and warm water works fine. It's important to get it cleaned off as soon as possible though. That ABC chemical can pit metal and painted surfaces if left on for too long.
