I attended a class given by our local English as a Second Language ClassThe students of that class were supposed to put on a cooking demonstration speaking in English and teaching us how to make different dishesOne housewife from Mexico showed us how to make a flan that she made in her homeIt's a little sweet and it didn't have anything caramelized in it but it definitely was flan and was goodHere's her recipe: 1 can evaporated milk 1 can sweetened condensed milk 2 eggs cinnamon Beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are broken upAdd the two kinds of milk and beat for 5 minutesPour in a casserole dish and sprinkle with cinnamonBake in a 375? oven for 40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean from the center She didn't give it a water bath and the texture was a little different from one done in a water bathBut it was still very good although a little too sweet for me but probably not too sweet for othersHope that helps.
When I make pigs-n-blanket, I get canned biscuits, regular hotdogs and then I cut each hot dog in half, roll them in the middle of one biscuit and bake them according to the directions on the biscuit canVery easy and simpleYou can also add a little piece of cheese to make them cheesy.
You will find it easiest to make individual ones in custard cups or muffin tins, and use a water bath to bake them in for best temperature controlPlace caramel (made by cooking white sugar and a little water until light brown) into the bottom of each dishI've attached a super easy recipe, but I suggest you add a little water to your sugar to make the caramelit helps for novice cooks, and will cook off.
