I just bought a casio ex-z70, and I bought it with no charger and no usb cable plug. It took me about a week to finally find a casio charger. and now i cant find a usb cable plug. Instead I found a memory card reader, but i was wondering what it was and if it worked like a usb plug. Will it transfer all my pic. to my computer?
The memory card reader and the USB cable perform two different tasks. You can use the memory card reader to plug the camera's memory card directly into you rcomputer to download any pictures you take. But that means you have to remove the memory card from the camera before doing so. The simpler way is to buy a USB cable for that camera (probably around $10.00). You can then plug the small end of the cable into the camera and the USB end into your pc and then download pictures from the camera without taking out the memory card. Good luck.
memory card readers usually read multiple camera cards, so if you have 5 cameras you can just plug all their cards into the card reader instead of having to plug in each camera. they are pretty much all USB so you just plug it in, then plug in your camera card to the reader. windows will detect it as a new drive letter and should pop up and ask if you want to view the files, from here you can copy them to your my pictures folder or wherever you want.
You are spot on with your assumption that with a card reader you do not need the PC to Camera USB cable. Your Memory Card Reader should have a USB plug on it, with a Memory Card from your camera plugged into the reader it will appear as an extra hard drive, with all your pictures on it.transfer your pics. Tip. If you need to transfer say a 'Word' document ,or any other file to another PC, you can always use your camera memory and card reader. Just load the file(like you were copying a file to your 'normal' hard drive) onto your camera memory, unplug from your PC, take to other PC, plug in, and there is your file
Right SD and micro SD should all work fine (providing you have the mSD adapter). However some card readers are a little fussy with SDHCs, I've had at least 2 times when the computer just failed to recognise an SDHC card, to my huge irritation.
