Question:

What is the heaviest metal genre?

I listen to much metal, from classic heavy metal to death metal, and I would like to know what is the heaviest metal genre. I want your answer to be filled with facts, not just like quot;x is heaviestquot;. Discuss please, thank you.

Answer:

Their definitely not true metal. But more alternative or nu metal. It's not always the exact sound that makes bands fit into certain categories but how they tune their instruments ect...
when you said system of a down is nu metal, then disturbed is not so far from that. i think Disturbed is quite nu metal as well. but when nu metal is accorded to a metal song with a little rap in vocals then pure nu metal bands are only like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, 4lyn, blindspot, etc. but yeah i would think that Disturbed had many influences and nu metal is a little bit in their influences as well. but that is just my humble opinion.
I agree whole-heatedly with Roxel. I was shocked to find that one of my favorite alternative metal bands, Sevendust, was labeled as nu metal on Wikipedia. I don't believe it. Disturbed certainly seems to lean more towards alternative metal than nu metal.
Nu Metal is a bullshit genre. None of the bands you mentioned sound remotely alike , yet they are in the same genre. Along with Static X and who know who else. Total utter silliness, its a worthless genre. People say Nu Metal sucks, and I don't get that. It is too broad . Some of the bands are crap, some are really good.
I would call them Alternative Metal. There are a lot of Alternative Metal bands that get compared with Nu Metal bands even though I don't believe that they sound similiar to Nu Metal at all.
