Like today I flipped to the Denver vs Oakland game and there was a black screen that said the game had been postponed due to lightning storms.Does the statium have lightning rods?Do they clear the field?Do they evacute any of the spectators?Hmmm?
How is it possible to equate the two ? Black oppression and gay marriage oppression both violate Amendment 14, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution. That's the problem. Though the circumstances are different, both instances are minority struggles for civil rights removed by the majority population. If anyone is familiar with our Constitution and system of governmentwhich by the way is not a pure democracythen you already know that majority vote does not trump minority rights. The US is a champion for equality..right? Its unfortunate that individuals who obviously dont know thier own history, or Contract of governance, or simply can't remove thier moral blinders.but they would remove or deny rights to thier american brothers and sisters. Constitutional rule of law will eventually prevailand we will one day look back in shameas we have with Native Americans, Blacks, Japanese, Women, and now Gays. Who's next? Christians? There's an old sayinga man in a glass house should not throw rocksthats to say, those who would oppose rights for a particular minority, may one day find themselves in the minority. Rather we should affirm rule of law to insure all of our civil rights are equal and steadfast.
Both were kept down by Bible bashers. Both experience post traumatic stress disorder when attacked by a church idiot. That old lady knew what she was doing when she approached a peaceful protest. She deserved her just reward of bashing just like a KKK member would at an MLK rally. Funny how there were no police in the middle of it.
I don't think it matters if you agree or disagree with it to not find a correlation between the two. The only thing they might have in common is that a small minority of those opposed to civil rights for minorities and those opposed to gay marriage may be people who love to hate. That isn't enough to build an argument in support of gay marriage but it may be enough to attract people to the cause of fighting hatred. It is the small groups of bigots that throw a wrench into the debate. They do more for their own opposition than they realize.

NO! It is insulting to compare the two! Prop 8 defines marriage, period. It is not about gay rights. Gays already have legal rights. There is no federal right to get married!
