I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla. I accidently peeled off something soft and spongy from the bottom of the brake pedal (Don‘t ask why) and now the brake light in the rear window and the passenger-side brake light stays on constantly without me pressing the brake. The driver‘s side brake light is the only one that functions properly when I press the brake. Also the window and passenger-side brake light stays on even when my car is off. I have to disconnect the battery or it will die. What is the spongy part called on the brake pedal? I don‘t think I need a whole switch. Just that part that may only be a couple of dollars.Has anyone seen this before?
I can't possibly see how peeling off that pad (which probably prevents the brake pedal from wearing a hole in the carpet) could cause two of the three brake lights to malfunction. I think that's just a co-incidence. Your electrical problem lies elsewhere.
Poke your head under the dash and look at where the brake pedal makes contact with the brake switches. The ones I have dealt with had a mushroom shaped button in the brake pedal arm - I guess yours had a pad or something. For now you can probably find something to fasten in place to make the lights work but the Toyota parts department can probably get you the correct part. EDIT - that makes sense. something stuck to the button. I haven't the vaguest idea what it is called and when I think about it Toyota will probably want to sell you the whole pedal arm. That makes a wrecking yard, especially one where you can pick your own part, the best bet. I'm sure that pedal arm has been unchanged for many years. I have just come in contact with the part when I noticed my brake lights on and found the button on the floor. At worst I think you can put a hex head bolt through the hole and a nut and lockwasher on the other side.
Check the wiring of the car basically those wire are connected with the brake and the light also then you can get the problem.
