Question:

What should I do to my brake system in my car?

I have been in Iraq and upon coming home someone has put engine oil the master cylinder in 2004 Dodge Durango. Apparently from what I have been told I would have to replace the master cylinder, calipers, rubbers, and the steel lines and pretty much everything involved with the system. I was wondering if I could just bleed the system or just replace the master cylinder. What should I do?

Answer:

you could always take the bulb out but that light is there for a reason. there,s got to be something wrong or it would,nt come on.take it to the ford garage, they should know what,s wrong.
Have the been driving the car? If it was topped off and not used, the flush the system and see how it works. If it has circulated around the system the the rubber parts can swell up. you should replace all the rubber parts. You could either rebuild or replace all parts with rubber in them, the master cylinder, and wheel cylinders
Motor Oil destroys the rubber seals in the system, so the master cylinder, calipers and wheel cylinders need to be replaced or rebuilt. Before you put them back on the lines need to be flushed clean with alcohol. You may also want to change the rubber hoses at each wheel also.
if it hasnt been used/pull master off/using denatured alcohol put new master on and bleed using the alcohol//get proper fluid and rebleed//make sure there is no m.o in system from use or you will have to repl a lot of stuff
