I checked on Best Buy's site and they still sell them. Self cleaning ovens heat up to about 500 degrees for around 3 hours to burn off the accumulated grease and spills. They then shut off and cool down before you can open the oven door again. It is Best to run them at night and with an exhaust fan running so your smoke detector won't go off !
