Answer:

There is no best type of fire alarm. Different types of detection and alarm equipment are used for different purposes. Even then, best is in the eyes of the beholder. If you are interested in the types considered acceptable for life safety in the home, and it is a single family home or duplex, smoke alarms are the favorite. One can get faster acting detection devices, but they are very very expensive, and might well cause false alarms from cooking and other odors. Photoelectric smoke alarms are better for the home than are ionization types. Much better. I like the AC connected ones, but do not like those with secondary power from their batteries. These are a nuisance. When the batteries wear out, they chirp. People do all sorts of things to make them stop until they get around to replacing the batteries. Meanwhile the alarms are not working. I would not get AC operated smoke alarms with batteries, unless I were in an area with very frequent power outages.

YOU CAN'T GO THROUGH THAT. THEY BLOCK IT WITH SOME THING.
as a plumber, I would say, call a plumber. This is not as easy as one might think. I don't know how many times I have had to clean up DIY people's jobs because they think they can do it all. Yes, a lot of things re fairly simple, but when it comes to soldering, call a plumber. Call an hourly plumber, a flat rate one will charge too much usually. The amount you will pay a plumber will be less than the equipment you will need to but to do the job RIGHT. You will need Mapp Gas, a reamer, copper pipe, a tee, sand cloth, flux, flux brush, solder. Flux and solder are expensive. Don 't mess around and don't take instructions on here on how to solder because we cannot see your situation. You may have to re-work the entire line to get that tee in. You may be creating problems to the system be entering a tee into the lin e that you may not know about. Anyway, that's my two centsGood Luck!
