Question:

where is the transmission pan on a 2001 jeep grand cherokee?

I think my transmission is slipping and I‘m wondering if I change out the transmission filter may help or maybe fix the issue.

Answer:

If the transmission is slipping, changing the fluid and filter (You will have to change the fluid if you change the filter) will probably make things worse instead of better. The transmission is slipping because the friction material has worn off the clutches, and now some of that material is suspended in the transmission fluid, and that keeps the transmission from slipping even worse. If you change the fluid now, the suspended material will be gone, and as a result it may not even be drivable. My suggestion to you is to take it to a local reputable transmission shop, and have them check it out, if it is slipping, they might just be able to replace the clutches.
