I got a completely new braking system installed in January of this year from Just Brakes. A few months after that they began squeaking. I ignored it which probably made things worse. Now it s the end of Nov. amp; they are making this loud horrid grinding sound. Why do they sound like this and is this normal? Should brand new 10 month brakes make any sounds? My vehicle still brakes but the sound is gut wrenching. I paid so much money to completely replace my brakes which have a so called lifetime guarantee. I m so angry right now!!! Someone please tell me what is going on so I know what to do.
Why haven't you taken the car back to Just Brakes and have them look at the source of the noise? Their work is guaranteed. Who knows what additional damage you've caused since you neglected the symptoms.
You have a caliper sticking which is eating up one or more of the brake pads. the grinding noise is said pads have been worn to the shoe and are now marring the rotor.
No they should not be making that noise. You say that you got complete new braking system. Around the wheel area there are 3 main components - pads, rotors(discs) and callipers. No one could say without investigation of the actual car but the most common cause of the grinding noise is a sticking calliper or maybe callipers . Squeaking can be down to improper pad installation or still could be the callipers. Maybe the callipers were replaced? I suspect not as they are too expensive to justify replacement unless they are faulty so it would be highly unusual to replace all 4 in one go. Obviously you need to take the car back to where they have a lifetime guarantee. Do not take the car elsewhere for brakes work as this will invalidate the guarantee. The problem may be due to improper installation or faulty materials which I have no reason to suspect that they will not deal with. HOWEVER - if one or more callipers were not replaced, as I said its unlikely that they would all need to be, then if one is sticking(or more) then this is a new problem not covered by the guarantee and is no reason for you to be angry at Just Brakes Just to note that a complete new brake system would be - pads, callipers, rotors (discs), hoses, rigid hydraulic pipes, ABS sensors, ABS pump and controller, brake fluid and a few other sundry items. Other than massive abuse or putting the wrong type of fluid in the system it is highly unlikely that all these would need to be done at the same time. I strongly suspect that what you think of as a completely new braking system is something different to what one actually is - sorry if I have underestimated you there.
