its to seat the rounds and shake loose any dirtalso, habit/superstitionand where the heck are the welds on an M16 magazine? theyre cheap aluminum, and i dont think ive seen much welding done on aluminumheck, ive got one in my hand right now and i dont see any weldsjust looks like sheets of aluminum formed and slid togetheras an armorer ive seen more rifles jam because the bolt didnt catch the round right than ive seen magazines break because of being tapped against a kevlarive seen them get run over by a 26 ton AAV and still work, and ive seen them bent out of shape after being kicked with a steel-toed boot.
