Question:

Why does the UK have car no. plates with different colours front and back, the rest of the world have the same?

I was asked this question by a man from the Netherlands, and I still have not been able to get an answer other than you know whether you are looking at the front or the back!!!

It depends. Assuming you aren't wearing gloves and safety glasses and working in a hood, then ammonia gas is the most dangerous. This could potentially cause burns to skin, eyes, and any other area of exposure. It can also be inhaled, which is especially dangerous because when a base like that reacts with lung tissue, you have the potential for your lungs to fill up with fluid. This would be very painful, and I'd rather suffocate any day. 0.1 M NaOH or HCl are going to be mild skin irritants that can easily be washed off of skin with soap and water before they do any damage. Acids usually itch for awhile before causing a burn, and bases will make your skin feel slippery like soap before you realize they are doing anything. Of course either of these in eyes or mouth are a problem, but again at this low of a concentration, they can be easily neutralized before doing any damage.
Yes, it can cause the smoke alarm to go off.
