why is the standard for sch 40 steel pipe 21' long? Why not an even 20' like pvc pipe?
Great Question, and I am glad that you asked! We've all had it. Especially during the cold months when the heaters are running and the air is really dry. You touch a metal door knob and ZAP! You get a static shock. That kind of static electricity could ruin some of the chips on your new memory stick, or even on your mother board. I repair my neighbors' and family's PCs as a hobby. I have replaced dozens of Mother Boards and hundreds of memory sticks. And I have NEVER lost one to the static monster. You don't have to wear a static strap or gloves, although it is not a bad idea. Number one: Take off your shoes and socks. Your bare feet won't generate static electricity. Number 2: Pick up the screwdriver you are going to use (any screwdriver will do. Just DO NOT use a magnetic screwdriver, you know, one of those that will hold the screw for you magnetically) and, while holding the screwdriver and touching the metalic area, touch anywhere inside the PC's case. Any un-painted surface will do. This will discharge any static electricity that you may have stored up in your body. Then, install the MoBo, yes, using your swiss Swiss Army knife. It would be best if you could do this in a non-carpeted room, like on a vinyl or ceramic floor, but it isn't absolutely necessary. Good luck! I hope this helps! Troy Downing
