will dvd system brake?

i have a home 750 watt sony dvd system. if i hook up an old sub that can only handle 170 watts rms, will it brake the system if it brakes.

Answer:

The home system is meant to use an 8 ohm load. If the sub is 4 ohm, you may damage the DVD system.
