Edhart is most likely the brand name. typical detectors you find on the ceiling are 'smoke' detectors which may operate by actually detecting smoke, or be triggered by heat or, you may have a carbon monoxide detector. So the key to figuring out which is where is this detector? and How many? If it is just one detector, located near a gas or oil furnace, or gas water heater, it is most likely a carbon monoxide detector. If there are several of these, throughout the home, in locations like bedrooms, living room, kitchen, etc.. then they are most likely 'smoke' detectors of one variety or another. You should be able to remove the detector from its base, by rotating it counter clockwise some models have a plastic pin, in the side, which you have to remove firstusually, a quarter turn is all that is needed. Once you have it down, check the battery, and it should also have a product label on the backside, with the specifics on the gadget, as well as a manufacturer. Have a nice day!
