Hi,I recently found a cruise control stalk, like the part that connects to the steering column for sale. I am wondering if I need something under the hood to make cruise control possible or if I can just plug in the stalk and make it work. Thanks!

The part you have is simply the controller for a system. You need to have the components that make it work to have an operable cruise control. There are parts that go on the engine and driveline that control the throttle and sense RPM's. Nigel is incorrect. The part you have is the one that makes adjustments, sets the speed and turns the system on and off.
You have only the interior part of the cruise control. The wiring at the stalk you have connects to the wiring for the cruise unit and the brake light switch at the brake pedal, you have an under hood servo that is operated by vacuum from a vacuum source (usually the brake booster), and two speedometer cables, one from the transmission to the under hood servo and the other from the under hood servo to the speedometer in the dash. So you need, an under hood servo, two speedometer cables for a cruise control servo, wiring from the signal stalk to the firewall, wiring from the firewall to the servo and a cruise control brake light switch. It can be done as I have done three for my own cars and two for others, a total of five.
