Question:

Adding transmission fluid to my 2000 grand am?

I have a 2000 Grand Am my change oil light comes on and its not the engine oil so im guessing its the transmission oil. my car doesnt have a transmission dipstick. where can I add transmission fluid to my transmission?

Answer:

You add the fluid in the same hole as the dip stick - they make a special (not expensive) funnel for it. Be sure not to over fill. You need to have the engine warm. First, warm up the engine, with foot on brake run through the gears, check fluid level and add as needed. While you are there look at the condition of the fluid. If it is dark brown or smells burn it is time to have the fluid and filter changed. good luck
you can buy 1 new tire and not have a problem the rear diff. is not a locker like for example in a race car you might have 1/4 or1/2 inch of stager but you will never know
if the nail is in the out side edge of the tread with in a inch of each side most places wont fix it but go to a different place and see if they will fix it that place may just be trying to get a new tire sale
Need to get on a lift(I hate that transmission). There is no dipstick. Plugs on the side. One to empty and one to fill. Maybe they didn't reset oil change button.
1. There is no change oil light for the transmission fluid. The change oil light is for the engine oil. It was probably not reset last time the oil was changed. To reset the oil light, look in the fuse panel located on the left side of the dash when you open the drivers door. There should be a red button you can press. Check owners manual for exact procedure. 2. You have a sealed transmission. No dipstick. Unless it is leaking, there is no need to add fluid. To service the transmission fluid a machine is used that replaces the fluid at the same rate it removes it. 3. There IS a round red cap on top of the transmission that you can add fluid to, but unless it's been leaking, don't add any. It's kind of buried down in the engine compartment, hard to reach.
