Question:

Are bike alarms worthwhile?

I bought a pretty expensive hybrid last week, and now I'm totally paranoid about security. I've got a Kryptonite Series 2 that's got a Solid Secure rating of Silver, with a 4' cable. Thinking about buying a second D-lock, and maybe a bike alarm. Are bike alarms worthwhile? Any recommendations?

Answer:

Replace the power door lock actuator (or call to get an estimate)If thet tell you you'll need to bring it in so they can take off the door panel to inspect (and of course charge you for this diagnosis) they are doing their job as professionals. However I would still get the price of the actuator (installed) and make sure they have one before letting them tear into into the door (meaning charging you to remove the door panel w/o having parts to fix it with). You'll thank me for this answer.
I think there is a system for that. You have to set up motion lights around your house, and a motion detecting camera that'll capture any movement. I saw this in Costco somewhere
