Does anyone know how much it will cost to replace the front axle for a 2004 Ford Explorer? Give a price if you know. If you DO NOT know anything about this please do NOT respond.
You can try to bandage it with Lucus oil and it will get you going for a few hundreds miles. The Explorer weakest point is the transmission, it is going to need to be rebuilt. If you are going to get another Explorer or Ranger, get the 5 speed manual transmission, they last longer.
I found nothing on JC Whitney for axles, however once school resumes next week I have access to All Data, which will tell me the factory price for it. (apparently All Data is not authorized for home use). Sorry I couldn't help your problem anymore, but I'll let you know. I will need to know more about the car, however (All Data requires this stuff, you have to be VERY specific about the vehicle in question. If you don't know, consult your owner's manual): What size engine? (liters, cubic centimeters, and number and formation of cylinders, to be more specific) 2WD,4WD, or All Wheel Drive? (there's a difference, trust me) Stick or Automatic Transmission? E-mail me via my profile and I'll get back to you.
man, give Ashish B. the best answer already!
