It wouldn't matter what brand you wear. If you were in a situation where you could get head injuries from a tornado, then you are probably screwed anyway. What about debris hitting the rest of your body? Having said that,it sure wouldn't hurt to have a helmet on but I wouldn't go spending heaps on one.
Can the fire extinguisher can throw you to the fire? It would be much better.

Churches don't have lightning rods, church buildings do. Weather affects the just and unjust. It would be silly not to protect your building as best you can when God gave us the brains to invent such a thing. That's like stepping out on the tarmac when a plane is landing. We have more sense than that.
It will not explode. The fire extinguisher is high pressure air(carbondioxide). The outward metal is almost fire resistant. Once the extingiusher heats and begins to melt and form a hole from any part of the body, it will start moving rapidly in uneven directions as the pressure needs to escape, just like a fully blown balloon left without tieing it. Because of its size and weight, this movement can hurt people around or objects. And it will not help in extinguishing the fire since the pressure is released with no direction.
