Question:

Brake system problem trouble shooting?

I have a 95 mitsubishi eclipse and am having troubleshooting a problem in the braking system. anyone? This morning I got on the freeway about five miles from my house, got up to 60 and then it started slowing down. when it slowed finaly to a stop. After that I tried to move it and realized the brakes were locked down on the wheels and the brake pedal won‘t budge. it is stuck no matter how hard I try to push it I‘m not sure how many of the wheels are locked but at least some are I‘m assuming that it is not all of them because I can still move the car and get it up to twenty as long as it is in first gear any ideas? also, there is plenty of break fluid in it.

Answer:

You should have. Cooking - Pots - Pans - Containers - Measuring Cup Cleaning - Hand soap, Dish Soap, Detergent, Vacuum Medical - Safety kit, Band aids, Hand Sanitizer, tooth brush, bedding Other - Internet, dart board, air conditioner.
Think about everything you use in a day wherever you are living, if any of that isnt yours you need to buy it. Some things I needed when I moved: Vaccum Pots (various sizes) Lids Tupperware Silverware Glasses (various types) Bottle opener Wine key Spatulas and kitchen utensils TOILET PAPER! soap bedding curtains/blinds area rugs storage units (bookshelves) laundry baskets laundry detergent TV dvd player all power cords extention cords surge plugs and power strips 3 to 2 prong adapters **** expecially when moving to older apt light bulbs toothpaste rug cleaner (all cleaners you are used to using) broom (dustpan) garbage bags air conditioner? lamps kitchen appliances if not included (ask!) iron (and board) garbage cans Furniture if not furnished (ask!) Thats all I can think of now
I'm wondering how it's possible for you to bleed your brakes by yourself, if that's what you say you did. I don't know anyone who could do that, without the one-way brake bleeder tool.
one of your wheels has the caliper hung up where the brake pads are actually stuck against the rotor put the front up in the air and see if you can turn the wheels by hand if you can then put the back up and check those one of the 4 will not turn by hand when doing the front make sure you put the tranny in neutral B.
As all have stated: do in this order 1) do the tire spin as someone stated 2) if its a wheel with a disc brake it could be a frozen caliper as someone stated. Replace caliper 3) if it's a wheel with a drum brake, a spring likely snapped. Replace broken spring 4) lastly very rare that a master cylinder will lock up 1 or 2 wheels, usually when it fails it will let the pedal go straight to the floor
