Question:

Can I install a 2& diameter hose bib?

While repairing a broken pipe at my house, right on my side of the 2 water meter, the thought occurred to me that I could install a 2 diameter hose bib. This would have a cam amp; lock coupling. So it would be similar to a fire hose. Who knows what this might be useful for. Would this be allowed by California code?

Answer:

Yes. The alarm in and of itself indicates a verifiable problem. In the role of community caretaker and in conjunction with the fire department, they are obligated to check it. If they responded to the alarm and took someone's word that there was no problem, but then the house ended up burning to the ground, they'd have the pants sued off of them. These days, public safety agencies have to verify and re-verify that they are not being negligent. Think of this in terms of a traffic stop. An officer stops you because you have no taillights and are therefore posing a safety hazard to yourself and other drivers. If illegal substance is in plain view, the officer has a right and an obligation to charge or cite you for it, despite the fact that they did not specifically stop you for the drug violation. Had your dope been IN your desk and they searched it without your consent, you'd have a leg to stand on. As you've described it to me, the officers acted well within their parameters.
You definitely need to have someone check it out and you probably need a new smoke detector. It's important that they work right, so it's a good idea to invest some money in a new one!
um no, i would suggest getting a new one, but it could be because of carbon monoxide, if so then , get the f*** outta ur house, sry bout the swaering, oh and id geta new one, smoke detetor not going off cuz of smoke, thats wack man
Are you sure you are using fresh/the correct batteries? Are your detectors older than 5-10 yrs? It may be time to replace them. Other thoughts: Are they monitored by a security system? If so call the security company. If not try calling your local fire department's NON-emergency number. They may be willing to send someone out to look at it. Its a great service to the community and a way to educate people on fire protection.
smoke alarms can go off for various reasons, the batteries need replacing, it is placed too close to a bathroom (or other area where steam can get to it), dust, etc. NFPA recommends that they be replaced every 10 years because they can get old and malfunction. If it is going off because of steam a humidifier will probably not work, you should move the detector instead. Smoke detectors should be placed inside and outside of sleeping areas and on every floor of the house, they should not be placed in the kitchen, bathroom or in the hallway next to kitchens or bathrooms. The batteries should be replaced a minimum of twice a year and the alarms should be tested monthly. Check with your local fire department for more information.
