Question:

Can you use regular limes instead of key limes when making a key lime pie?

I live in a small town and none of the stores around carry key limes or key lime juice :( so my only option is to use regular limes...will it turn out if I do? Does anybody know?

Answer:

It will have a flavour different from lime so have a taste before you squirt it all over your food. It is unlikely your little tree with sustain a lot of harvest. Even if you have plenty now there is no guarantee it will flower and fruit next year as it hard to get them to flower in the first place, then pollinate with another tree etc etc I would say just enjoy the tree as something to look at. What I do with my limes if I have half left over is that I freeze it. In thawing it out they are even juicier.
I even have consistently had sturdy success with Miller Nursery in manhattan state. i'm particular that they have got a internet site. they supply many unique forms of fruit in dwarf, semi dwarf, and classic sizes. i don't be responsive to in the event that they supply any citrus timber.
