Question:

Detecting ABS brakes.?

My ex-GF is purchasing a cash car for her sister and she‘s very safety-conscious.So I‘m asking you all the same question she asked me.How can you tell a vehicle has ABS brakes?Looking at different versions of the same car, some have ABS, some don‘t, and some might have it but don‘t include it on the equipment list.Of course, I like to say thank you in advance to those of you that offered up your time and answers.

Answer:

when you first turn on the ignition if an abs light lights up for a couple of seconds you have abs abs is not important if you know how to threshold brake [pump the pedal rapidly]
How to know if your vehicle is equipped with ABS. Most newer vehicles offer ABS as either standard or optional equipment. To find out whether your car has an antilock brake system, and what type, read your owner’s manual. You can also check your instrument panel for a yellow ABS indicator light after you turn on the ignition. And when you buy, lease or rent a vehicle, always ask if it comes equipped with ABS.
The abs system is under the hood and separate from the standard braking system. They work in tandem, but the brake system can work without the abs system for safety reasons. The car with the abs will have an ABS light on the dash, and when you go to start the car, this light will illuminate and if the ABS is working properly, the light will go out shortly after the engine is started. The other way to check is to look at the front hubs and check for the electric wire going to the ABS sensor on the hub, but you will be wearing your knees out doing so.
