Do I need inner tubes when changing tires on a motorcycle with spooked rims?

Answer:

Yes. Tubes and rim strips. I ran tubes in my cast rims as well.
Yes tires get hot transfers to tube .I have never seen a spoke tubeless wheel .and be sure to replace the rubber strap that protects the tube from the spoke nipples.
Just how spooked are the rims? Scary enough that they are rough? You need to look at your existing tubes and judge if they look good enough to be used again. if so, do it. You should replace the rubber liners that line the spoked rims each time though. I personally have use tubes 2X if I had no problems with the tube. I will not chance it for a third tire change. You gotta figure you get 10K or more miles out of a tubed tire, so 20-25K is all I ever ask out of an innertube.
