I‘m in my mid 20‘s and I ride a Gigster 600 and been riding a few years now. Just wondering if any of my fello riders out there ever think about hanging up the towel and quit riding. Whether its a sport bike, cruiser, chopper, harley.watever. Does riding ever get old to yall? I love the road and the feel on the bike don‘t get me wrong, but I‘m feeling like hanging it up latelywhich is weird cause summer is around the corner and I‘m in Southern Cali.
It should have NO smell, retardant or not. Was it a cheap blanket? If so, return it The smell will never go away completely. Spend a little more and get better quality.
Usually you wont have a blowout where the tire gets shredded. It might just get punctured. ease off the gas and let the bike coast to a stop. Dont try to turn or stop short. Slowing down is the hardest part. when your going fast, the centrifical force keeps the tire expanded to the correct shape. Once you get below say 30mph, the tire starts to get wobbly. but as long as you are calm and dont make any sudden movements you'll be ok. I was following my buddy when he ran over a peice of metal that put a 2 inch slice in his back tire. He rode for a mile before he even realized something was wrong (we were on a straight highway). He carefully slowed down to the side of the road and was able to stop safely.
Sometimes riding where I live is confined to commuting. And of late, commuting sucks. Insane drives on the road these days. I see drivers blatantly running red lights every day. I see up to 10 cars running nose to tail at 80 plus mph in a 55 mph zone. Just insane. Then I finally have some free time and decent weather. I get away from the Chicago area and riding becomes fun again. What I really need is another long ride west to the mountains of Colorado. Then I treasure being on a motorcycle. Drivers are nicer and a lot more courteous when I am about 250 miles west of Chicago. I am far enough away from the Chicago influence for riding to be relaxing and enjoyable. That is my story.
I could never in a million years think about putting my bike away. The feeling of freedom. The wind blowing in your face. I'll ride until I die. Very few things in life beat the feeling of riding, my friend!!!
