Question:

Fire hose putting out a fire?

A fire hose ejects a stream of water at an angle of 35° above the horizontal. The water leaves the nozzle with a speed of 25 m/s. Assuming that the water behaves like a projectile, how far from a building should the fire hose be located to hit the highest possible fire?

Answer:

the pinch roller is a rubber wheel that pinches the tape against the capstan, a spinning metal rod. The combination of the two is what sets the play speed of the tape. if the rubber becomes hard with age, it may allow the tape to slip slightly causing either speed variation or tracking glitches. there are other rollers in the tape path, mostly designed for smooth tape movement or to control up/down shimmy. these are usually metal wheels with a small flange on top and bottom for the tape to glide through.
One I hope this helps!!
