I have been looking at jewelry and I really like the micro studs, but they only come in 20 gauge, most other jewelry for noses (including the bioplast) comes in 18. Can you wear a 20g stud in an 18g hole???

You'll do it some point in your life,but if it makes you uncomfortable or scared have a talk with your siblings and your parents.
I'd take a pass on this whole dealtoo many other nice horses out there in desperate need of a home. WHY would you take on 1,000 lbs of TROUBLE? The behavior and stud issues are NOT for novices!!! I've known plenty of stud owners/handlers in my lifetime whose horses(stallions) have all received proper attention from day one. Good stud handlers are worth their weight in gold. Very few people are up to the challenge. Those that are earn boookoo bucks working at breeding farms. I doubt his nasty behavior will disappear in a day. He has had seven years to work on being a nasty stud horse. Gelding him may reduce some of the nastiness but he hasn't any respect for you OR your husband. A whip will only make him additionally resentful. I'd cut my losses and for my own safety, get rid of him. I doubt you've seen first hand the bite wound from a horse or the damage done by kicks. I have, working in an ER. It ain't a pretty picture and bite wounds can take months to heal if the wound becomes septic. And you'll be lucky not to lose your life or appendage. Just remember, if studs were for EVERY one then EVERY one would own one.no thanks.
