Question:

Ford F Series 2 speed axle?

I found a 2000 Ford F250 4x4 with the factory 6 speed (L-1-2-3-4-5) transmission.but it has a 2 speed electric shift auxiliary somewhere along the line. It‘s shift pattern follows that of a 10 speed road ranger, with L being turned into a deep reduction (11 speeds total). I scoured the internet for information pertaining to a 2 speed like that, but found nothing. Does anyone out there know who made this setup?

Answer:

Hone makes an electric 'overdrive' module that looks kind of like a big starter, with U-joints at both ends. I have seen then used after the transfer case, so the gear reduction doesn't affect the front axle, for a hi speed hi way towing gear.
Those trucks never came with with a 2 speed axle from the factory, it should have a Sterling 10.25 inch rear axle. L is simply a granny gear. If it has a 2 speed axle then it's aftermarket.
Are you talking about 4L and 4H in your transfer case? Or does it have a 2 speed overdrive like some of the ford pick ups had in the sixties. These were an axillary 2 speed behind the regular transmission.
i don't know who inventented them, but we wear them in the OR because they're supposed to have no lint attractability, they provide a lack of static in the OR, you aren't distracted by who's body looks like what when you're all dressed the same, and they provide lots of movement and comfort so you're able to work unheeded and without distractions from clothes that would otherwise be too tight, too itchy, too bothersome, etc. they are great equalizers in the OR.
