How bad would the oil industry suffer when alternate fuel for machinery takes over? ?

High oil costs makes the consumers cry,....low oil prices makes the refineries cry too...who suffers most?

even the cars that use alternate fuel use oil how else are the parts gonna get lubricated? so it wont be that bad for them
The oil companies are the biggest investors in alternate fuels.
They'll suffer quite a bit. But not to worry, 'alternative' fuels are decades away from being anywhere near as efficient and affordable as oil.
Oil companies are already producing hydrogen from oil. There is game in it no matter what we change. Also, they'll wait til other means are developed to buy them up and monopolize and exploit those industries. The best we can hope to get is to cut down pollution and global warming. The new GM volt, with it's rocket science batteries looks so good, but the batteries, as expensive and massive as they are, only store as much power as a gallon of gasoline. Aren't you glad gas doesn't cost as much as that battery! So, it's rechargeable, but you'll burn some fuel to do that. You're tired of it, but you don't get anything without bending over.
