Question about motorcycle axle assambly?

im working on a complete costome bike and need to fabericate a rear swing arm my question is what is a good simple setup for the rear axle bering blocks and how u adjust spraket distens to line up with the engine sproket

Answer:

generally you will wear out 2 rears to a flont on the street. stick with the same brand and tire the front clears the water for the rears these days. so if you get cought in a shower you will be ok changing to one new tire is the norm
A simple wooden jig to hold the wheel with axle while aligning that to the frame as you measure the width of the spacer(s) needed, just remember to align the front wheel parallel/in-line to the rear as you go. The frame should be stationary/fixed and helpful to have the engine removed. Added- While engine is still in the frame measure the distance from center of drive-sprocket to a part of the frame you wish to use as a reference point.
As to lining up your drive train, this is how I do it. K, your engine is in, transmission is properly aligned, now I put the rear tire assembly in with axle and attach chain and of course the rear brake rotor and caliper unless you're running a brake rotor combo. No spacers. Take straight edge and adjust the wheel until the chain is perfectly straight. Carefully and precisely measure the spaces between the swing arm and wheel assembly independently. I do this a few times cause I don't have all day with a lathe. Cut out your spacers and reassemble the unit. If all as it should be, disassemble and prep and finish your new spacers. A good custom job should never look like you did it yourself.
Makes no difference at all.
