Question:

How can I secure the top of an aluminum double-hung window?

Our new apartment has double-hung windows, aluminum framedThere are security bars across the bottoms, but the windows are quite low and the tops, of course, can be slid down when the bottom is openIs there any way to secure the top half of the window even when the bottom half is open?

Answer:

you really only need one blanket [well unless you have a lot of money] but your horse will be fine with oneyou can look online at blankets and make sure that you get one that is water proof or water resistantand usually on the side it will say what temperature the blanket works ingood luck
I live in MA, so I know how you feel! After the sheet at like, let's say 60 or below (or higher if it's raining), at 45 put on a light turnout, which should have 100 gramsAt 30, I would put a medium on wight 200 grams30 or below, go heavy, with 300 or more gramsIf it gets in the single digits, I but a fleece blanket under my heavy, or I put my light weight and my heavy on togetherThat;s what I would do for a QHIf it was a TB, it would be different, butthat should work for you!!!
You'll want to check with your landlord before you do this but the easiest way is to cut a piece of quarter round trim and slide it into the window track so that it's holding the top part of the window up but not blocking the bottom part from sliding, then just screw that into place.
