how can i test a generator?

i am going to buy a second hand generator which is 108kva diesel enginehow can i test it so i know it starts but also is capable of running around 80-100kvai want to make sure it is strong and still working and not that it just startsplease help thankssam

start it up and plug it up to something, and let it run, the seller should have something to plug it in and show you it does work good.

The correct way to test it would be to hook it up to a load bank, which can place a full load to what the generator is rated for. You can do that by hiring a generator company to test it for you. You could hook up as many power tools to it as you can get your hands on to see if it is putting out, but it will not match a load bank.
