Question:

How do I fix a broken brake cable on a moped?

I have one of those cheap Chinese imported mopeds and recently the steel cable that controls the brake detached from the brake handle mechanism. The cable was attached through a small hole near the brake handle. How do I reattach this cable? Again the cable itself is not broken, it has just detached from the hand brake area.

Answer:

at the end of the steel cable there shud b a circular metal piece that connects the cable tot h brake if its not there then it has snapped and been left inside the brake. pull the lever right up to the grip and look for it. best thing to do if you can see it is either resolder it or push it out and buy a new cable (bout 6) n use that one.
The knobed end of the cord cable is going interior the topside swivel setting up on the lever. look at lefthand edge lever for clues. you would be wanting too loosen the cable on the brake end to furnish greater slack to reattach the cable to the lever. sturdy success!
Also lube your cables and the control points they go to with wd-40 it helps maintain them. just shoot it inside the cable as best you can.
Loosen the other end lock nut on the cable, pull some extra cable (one inch or so) at the handle, reatatch it to the handle. Now pull the cable slack back out and tighten the nut.
