Question:

how do i repair faulty a b s light?

I have a volvo 940 GL petrol auto estate , 1992. i can‘t get the A B S light to go out , the car has had a diagnostic check but this did not pinpoint the problem ? the M O T is due and so i am anxious to get the problem sorted , has any one got any ideas please ? .

Answer:

MOT inspection only involves the emissions system in most locations, but a 92 abs failure may be only diagnosable using Volvo dealer tools :( $$$$ Sorry
The only way to get the light to go out is to fix the underlying problem. You can clear the code, but if the problem is still there, it'll come on right away.
The ABS light isn't faulty, your ABS system is. The light is doing its job. Now the problem is, how to repair the ABS. The fault could be caused by a bad wheel sensor, or the control module, wiring, or any number of things. If you don't know how to trouble shoot it, take it to a mechanic that does. Brakes are not something to play with.
